Andreas Schneider

Dipl.-Ing. Architekt BDA DWB | Urban Planner | Passive House Planner
Founder, Managing Director & Office Manager, andreas schneider architekten

University of the Arts in Bremen and Academy of Graphic Arts in Munich. He graduated with distinction from Oldenburg and with a certificate from Munich. Registered as a freelance architect with the Architects’ Chamber of Lower Saxony since 1993, Andreas Schneider gained valuable experience in offices in Oldenburg, Munich and Bremen, working for Otto Steidle, Stephan Braunfels and Lauber & Wöhr, among others.

In 1997, Andreas Schneider founded his first architect’s office in Bremen; in 1998 he was admitted to the Federation of German Architects (BDA). He was admitted to the Deutscher Werkbund in 2004, an association of architects, artists, designers and industrialists established in 1907, where he was a member of the Executive Board between 2004 and 2007.

Since establishing andreas schneider architekten GmbH & Co. KG in 2008, Andreas Schneider has focused on urban development designs and on classic design and planning work for new buildings. Building in existing contexts and in listed buildings are matters close to his heart. Public-sector buildings with sports and multi-purpose halls, school buildings and kindergartens, town halls and public administration buildings are a main focus of planning and realisation.

Since 2009, Andreas Schneider has been registered as a freelance urban planner in Bremen.

Andreas Schneider’s identity as an architect for a liveable future calls for sustainable strategies in all work phases. His approach to design is open and experimental, nourished by many different sources of inspiration in philosophy, sociology and art. His designs are aimed at giving answers to changing living and working conditions, and at creating spaces that are designed for sustainability and versatility and for the development of present and future society; spaces should exert an emotional appeal on their users.

Andreas Schneider’s multifaceted activities are rounded off by his lectureships from the mid-1990s to 2018, and his supervision of student dissertations.
